Who is Catherine de Leon

As Above So Below Emporium Ltd. was created by Cat de Leon and launched in October 2023.

Originally from the States, Cat has lived in New York City, and Greater Boston in Massachusetts. As an adult, she lived in London, Barcelona, Prague, Oslo, and now, Liverpool. The minute she arrived, she fell in love with the city and just like in the song, she said, “And here I will stay.” Since settling in, her main goal was to become a real part of Liverpool, and to give something back to the city she loves. The Emporium will be just that.

OPENING HOURS: Monday to Friday 11am to 6:00pm. Saturday 10:30 to 5:30pm

Cat de Leon is a seeker, adventuress, published essayist/journalist, and visual artist whose work has been shown in Prague, Oslo, Berlin, and Liverpool. In the States, her art has been part of group shows as well as solo exhibitions in Lynn, Boston, Salem, and Lowell, Massachusetts. She has appeared on stage and on film, and has worked in the music business as a producer, music journalist, songwriter/vocalist and crappy guitarist.

Born in the U.S., Cat spent the early part of her life in New York City, then Lynn, Massachusetts on the North Shore, just north of Boston and just south of Salem. She picked up her first tarot deck at the age of 12 and intuitively began to read. This set her on a lifelong journey of study and practice. She has been reading and teaching tarot professionally for over 35 years building an international, loyal client base, and has worked in one of the oldest reading rooms in The States, The Tremont Tea Room in Boston, as well as the first witch shop in Salem, Massachusetts – Crow Haven Corner. She is a sole practitioner and follows the path of the Hellene pantheon. She is firmly committed to creating an eclectic space within the Emporium, not dedicated to any one path or persuasion, but the witch’s rede holds firm: “And ye HARM NO ONE, do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law”. We will not engage in any harmful or manipulative practice, nor aid and abet in same.

From the time The Beatles hit the States, to the minute she peeled the cellophane off her first Bowie album, to the first chords of The Damned’s New Rose, to the 2nd Liverpool Invasion of Echo and the Bunnymen and Teardrop Explodes, she knew she would live in England someday. After graduating university, she moved to London, foolishly married after a whirlwind romance, lived in a squat in SE London, then returned to the States for what was supposed to be 6 months but became too many years. Eventually, after exploring life in Prague, Barcelona, and Oslo, Cat came to Liverpool, and just like the song goes, she knew, “And here I will stay.” Since then, she has been bound and determined to become an integral part of Liverpool and its culture and to give back to the city she has adopted as her home. As Above So Below was created as a vehicle to do just that. So mote it be.
